The Little Girl in Paris

Two years is the Amount of time it's been since I last posted. now I'm in college and studying Abroad in Paris, France. Because I am now a very different person I am going to change up this modest blog, though I will not change the design of the background because i still love polka dots and colors. And I do not feel Inclined to delete anything related to Lizzie Mcguire show Because That Will Always Be the classic coming of age story for me.
One thing That Has not changed about me is That I am still a child Despite The Fact That I just turned 20 And I feel as though I still dress like one Partially I see and when to childrens shoes, not sneakers Including, I wonder why They Do not make adult shoes just like them. What Has Changed is That I am no follow a child in suburban Northern California, I am a child in Paris (and That Is Perhaps what I'll rename my blog). Voila!
In looking 'to Paris, this city just totally rocks (a word Farming in Lizzie Mcguire at least once, I still am a fan)! I came here to study abroad Because I have always wanted to go here, though I state it Often, Because It's is a great place for fashion, All which is not untrue. Paris Seemed HAS always fantastical and beautiful and it is Certainly, but not in the way I expected. Which Makes It Even More fantastical! The buildings surrounding the streets are beautiful and there are no massive highways through the middle of the city like there are in Southern Californian cities. I am quite excited and inspired to call this ole land of Madeline and Satine (two Parisian cinematic spectacular and redheads) my own for the next Few months.

Theatrics and My Spiel on Keeping up Appearances

This week was incredibly exciting! I auditioned for my schools musical production of The Jungle Book and was casted as the character Rashka, the female wolf who Mowgli is raised by. I was especially excited about this role because it is my biggest role in a musical at my school, although I am not so sure how many lines I have or if my role is considered a lead because Baloo, Mowgli, and Bagheera are really the only characters that are present throughout the whole musical. But I am still extremely satisfied with the role. Acting and musical theatre is also a passion of mine. I love to sing, dance, and create an entirely new persona on the stage. I believe that this is relative to fashion because I enjoy many visual, performing, and digital arts.
So to the fashion side of things, this week I was driving home from my voice lessons and while at a red light I saw a woman. She was wearing jeans that probably had an elastic waist band, big white sneakers, an oversized powder pink sweatshirt, and her hair was very dated . One might assume that she was a unattractive person because her outfit was a bit of a disaster but I disagree. I am positive that she could look amazing if she got some current clothes, a hair cut, and confidence of course because her posture made her look very sloppy. My point is that everyone can look gorgeous if they put time into their appearance. Many people, in particular women, do not believe that they have the potential to look pretty because they aren't born with traits that have been deemed attractive by the society they live in. But it is all about how you present yourself. If you put a good effort into how you look, dress, and most importantly, portray confidence, then you wont compare yourself to other "more beautiful" people as much. Fashion statements are not about expressing where you shop, how much you spend, or how attractive you look in them as much as displaying another side of your personality, like I said in my first blog, and standing out. If you put yourself out there fashion-wise, people will notice you for who you truly are, which is a beautiful person.

Lizzie Mcguire: Iconic Moments and Fashion

Lizzie McGuire - 01x23 Last Year's Model

How Lizzie McGuire Changed the World!

I got a really good response from the last post and my blog in general on facebook so I am really happy that I created the Best Dressed Blog. For today's post, I would like to discuss how a certain TV Show has influenced my love for the Fashion Industry and clothes in general. My favorite show is Lizzie Mcguire, which stars my biggest inspiration of all time, Hilary Duff. Hilary is, in my opinion, one of the best role models for young girls today because she is a good actress who has over time taken on many diverse roles, she has a great sense of style, she has had two lines that have spanned different age groups (one for young girls and one for women which is what I want to do if I ever have a line), she has not gotten into any legal trouble, and she takes risks in music as well as acting and fashion. And yes, I am aware that she isn't quite as famous as she was in her Lizzie Mcguire days but I think that it's because she didn't want to sell out by playing the same ditsy blonde character over and over again. She began to choose more mature roles as she grew up and also did many independent films, which is why she is not as well known now. And she is having a baby boy some time this month so I am very, very happy for her and her husband Mike Comrie. Anywhom, the fashion of Lizzie Mcguire is ridiculously awesome and completely me. The clothes of Lizzie McGuire consisted of was colored hair pieces, graphic T-shirts, long sweaters, platform shoes, printed capris, necklaces with heart charms, fluffy pink purses, mixed prints, flip-flops, tons of accessories, and of course the infamous unicorn sweater that Lizzie was forced to wear for picture day. It was very 90's, which is a decade that has its pros and cons in fashion (I very much dislike the grunge, Nirvana-inspired, oversized plaid shirts and sweatshirts with hiking shoes and cuttoff shorts style but I really like the later 90's style that popstars and boy bands sported, although I would not personally wear it), mixed with the new millenium style that tended more towards t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers. But what really inspired me about the show was that the characters, at least Lizzie and Miranda, would never wear outfits that really matched, but they always looked put together. I believe that the clothes I wear likewise don't necessarily match but have somewhat similar elements that just go with each other. Stacy London, the co-host of What Not to Wear, is also a believer of this theory. Outfits do not have to be completely matchy-matchy in order to look good. In fact, adding an element of surprise is what brings out ones personality and creates interest. People do judge you by how you present yourself, but I do not think that they are being superficial by doing so. It has been said many times, but how you dress really does say something you, whether it is true or not. I have chosen the way I dress to be the biggest representation of my true self, because I do come off at first as very shy and conservative but I believe my vibrant style does serve as a way to show people that I actually am an interesting, thoughtful, unique, and opinionated person.

It's My Life

Konnichiwa! This is my first post of the blog that I wanted to wait until I was out of High School to start writing because I felt as though my life was not exciting enought to begin writing about. But after I was inspired by my sisters decision to write about how books she has read have changed her life and my best gay friend told me that I can make it exciting if I choose for it to be, I decided to go for it. So... about me. I am 17 years old and I have lived in a suburb of Sacramento, California for almost my whole life. I am a senior at a huge High School of over 2,500 kids and although I am the uppermost class, if you saw me in real life you may mistake me for an underclassmen. That is except for the fact that, I must admit, I have style. My friend Karina told me that when she met me last year she would have thought I was a grade lower than I actually am, because I am very short and thin, but the way I dress and present myself made her believe I was the age I actually am. I have always put a big effort into my appearance, at least when I began dressing myself. I have always loved color and not been too fond of black and simplicity. I always wear pattern or at least something that really creates interest in an outfit. Commonly you will see me wearing a short skirt or shorts with tights, a pattern scarf, and a sweater or shirt that is belted at the waist. But there are many variations to my style and I never like to repeat, unless I know no one will remember. Anyway, concerning my future goals, I decided that I wanted to be a Fashion Designer when I was ten or eleven years old. I began searching up colleges when I was eleven to see if they had fashion, mistaking "design" for "fashion design" even though it most commonly meant interior. But ultimately I had no idea how hard the next six years of my life were going to be academically and whether I was even going to stick with this career idea. My seventh and eighth grade years differed immensely. Seventh grade was extremely simple and I seemed to be adjusting well to the transition from the innocence of elementary school to the evil that is middle school. But eighth grade was the most terrible time of my entire life. I had no friends and I became extremely anti-social and lonely. I focused a lot on, because I was taking three honors classes (even though I never took more than two AP's at once in High School, but it was extremely hard work and I was miserable since my social life basically didn't exist. I looked forward to attending sewing class every week, where I could relax and talk to girls somewhat my own age while creating quilts, pajamas, shirts, and drawstring bags. I always feel extremely at ease while I am sewing but still very focused, which is a quality that does not come easily to me. When I entered High School I began making friends, most being artistic, creative, unique people who did not bother to care what their peers thought of them, which reflected in their wardrobe. Sophmore year of High School I stopped shopping at Abercrombie and began taking fashion risks. I was mostly successful but I did wear a lot of puffer jackets when I expected it to be cold outside and those really aren't flattering on anyone. But by the time I was a junior I figured out that my style is a cobination of youthful, kiddish style and sophisticated, older style. And I had determined that I wanted to dedicate my career to predicting the future style of America!
